The Pink Lake – The Pink Lake lies north of the Cap Vert peninsula of Senegal, some 30 km north-east of the capital, Dakar, in northwest Africa. It is named for its pink water caused by Dunaliella salina algae and is known for its high salt content, up to 40% in some areas..
Island of Gorée – Island of Gorée lies off the coast of Senegal, opposite Dakar. From the 15th to the 19th century, it was the largest slave-trading centre on the African coast. It was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978.
Lions of Teranga (Football team) – The Senegal national football team nicknamed the Lions of Teranga, represents Senegal in international association football competition and is operated by the Senegalese Football Federation. Senegal has clinched its first-ever The Africa Cup of Nations (AFOCN) title this year (2022) after two previous AFCON final defeats in 2019 and 2002.
Sabar drumming – Sabar drumming by far the most common instrument in Senegal. It is usually accompanied by dancing and takes place for special occasions and festivals including births, weddings and other special celebrations.
